Kerala notch-up massive win in Vijay Merchant Trophy

Kochi: Sijomon Joseph and Fanoos continued their sizzling form into the final day, ensuring Kerala a victory by an innings and 73 runs against Goa in their match at the Vijay Merchant Trophy under-16 cricket tournament in Chennai on Wednesday.

The duo that was responsible for six wickets in the first innings bagegd seven wickets between them in in the second as Goa were bowled out for a paltry 120, having already conceded a lead of 193 runs.

The Goans had made a decent start to their second innings, and even after the first wicket fell for 43, they tried to carry on, oblivious of what was to follow. In the end, wickets tumbled as they handed Kerala a big win.

Tripunithura CC walked away with three points for taking the first innings lead after playing out a draw against Muthoot ECC in the Ernakulam district 'A' Division cricket league at Rajagiri on Wednesday .

Midhun S. and Jomin Joseph shared seven wickets as Tripunithura took a 53-run lead in the first innings. Renil T.K. was unbeaten on 69 when Muthoot finished their stipulated 70 overs at 192 for 9.

In their second essay, TCC scored 160 for 7 to finish the second and final day and call it a draw. Earlier, TCC had made 245 in their first innings with Aphsal A. top scoring 81 runs.
