Vignesh and Nikshep storm into quarterfinals

Bangalore: Karnataka's Vignesh Subramanium shocked fourth seeded Yash Yadav of Madhya Pradesh to enter the quarterfinals even as his team-mates had a good run in the R.T. Narayan Memorial Cup U-16 AITA series championship at the KSLTA stadium on Wednesday .

Vignesh dug in deep to oust Yadav 6-1. 4-6, 6-2 to enter the last eight.
Joining him in that stage were top seed B.R. Nikshep, Adil Kalyanpur and Rishi Reddy .

National U-16 champion Nikshep packed too many guns for P. Siddarth's comfort as the Karnataka lad breezed past the Andhra lad 6-0, 6-1 to storm into the quarters.

Wild card entrant Kalyanpur rallied past Uttkarsh Bharadwaj of Uttarkhand 7-6 (4), 6-1 while Rishi ousted Siddarth Basnet 6-3, 6-2.

Third seed Parikshit Somani of Assam also made his exit, losing 5-7, 6-2, 4-6 to Rian Pandole.

In girls, S. Soha of Karnataka moved into the last eight stage with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Dharana Mudaliar of Andhra while team-mate Rashmika Rajan lost to Shivani Swarup of Maharashtra 2-6, 4-6.
