Pastor held for abduction, rape
Man nabbed with minor after six months.
Chennai: A 35-year-old pastor was arrested by the Chennai police in Krishnagiri on Friday for allegedly abducting a 17-year-old girl, daughter of a sub-inspector of police, from her home where he used to visit for family prayers, and raping her.
The arrested man was identified as David Inbaraj of Alamelu nagar in Mudichur, running a church in the area.
According to the police, the pastor and the girl vanished six months back and the special teams were on the look-out for David Inbaraj who is believed to have lured the girl during his visit to the house of the sub-inspector.
“It looks like he had been touring the country with the girl. We finally nabbed him from Krishnagiri and rescued the girl,” the police said on Friday.
While the police were looking for the two based on a complaint from the girl’s father, the pastor’s wife, Sonia, had filed a habeas corpus petition in the Madras high court seeking to find her husband who had gone missing.
