NGOs spit fire at Ashok Babu
Ravindra Babu criticises him for concentrating on NGOs association poll campaign.
Nellore: NGOs’ associations across Seemandhra appear to be unhappy with the style of functioning of their state president G. Ashok Babu going by the outburst of NGOs’ Association district president C. Ravindra Babu against him and secretary of the state unit Chandrasekhar Reddy at the NGOs’ home here on Friday.
He lambasted them for concentrating on NGOs’ association election campaign when state bifurcation issue is in a crucial phase. He said that they are at a loss to understand as to why their leaders are watering down the agitation at this stage.
He threatened to contest against them and ensure their defeat if they fail to mend their ways. Speaking to this newspaper, Ravindra Babu said that heads of eight district associations have decided to field candidate against Ashok Babu during a meeting held at Hyderabad on Thursday.
He said that three more districts also supported the move. He said that the dictatorial attitude of Ashok Babu led them to take the decision. Ravindra Babu has accused that Ashok Babu had not allowed district unit presidents of NGOs associations anywhere near the stage during Save Andhra Pradesh meeting held at Hyderabad.
He alleged that Ashok Babu and Chandrasekhar Reddy were co-opted temporarily as president and secretary because of a court stay against elections scheduled for June 29 this year.
He said that Ashok Babu gave election notification to elect the state body on January 5, 2014 ignoring the advice of the district units to postpone the election in view of T-bill coming to the Assembly. He said that they don’t mind making him as head of Samaikyandhra Vedika President but not as head of their state body.
Meanwhile, the NGOs set fire to flex boards of the leaders supporting the division of the state during a demonstration against state bifurcation at NGOs Home here on Friday.
Ravindra Babu has alleged that Digvijay Singh came to the state to purchase MLAs to seek their support for Telangana Bill. He rebuked Congress for going ahead with the bifurcation ignoring the sentiments of the people of Seemandhra.
