Aryadan Muhammad asks DMRC to settle labour unrest

The State Government has entrusted the DMRC with sorting out the labour unrest in Kochi Metro’s.

Kochi: The State Government has entrusted the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation with sorting out the labour unrest in Kochi Metro’s final reach between Ernakulam South and Pettah following nonpayment of dues to contract workers.

Transport Minister Aryadan Muhammad said that all options, including the replacement of the contractor agency, would be considered to address the issue.

According to sources, labour unrest has severely affected work at the casting yard and the Vytila Mobility hub.

Earlier, the Minister launched the ‘City on Wheelz’ project whereby commuters could purchase smartcards. Over 100 buses have registered under the scheme, initiated by Technovia Info Solutions, Kochi, in association with the Kerala Bus Transport Association, All Kerala Private Bus Operators Forum and All Kerala Private Bus Operators Organisation.
