Rajasthan: Cong blames faulty EVM for poll defeat
According to congress candidates the voters pressed the right button but EVM converted it into BJP vote.
Jaipur: It seems that the Congress leaders in Rajasthan have found real culprit behind their massive defeat in the assembly elections. No it's not voters, according to congress candidates the voters pressed the right button but electronic voting machines (EVM) converted it into BJP vote.
The two young congress candidates Danish Abrar who contested from Sawai Madhopur and Prashant Bairwa from Niwai held a press conference on Saturday and claimed that EVMs were tampered with.
According to them it didn't matter which button was pressed it was always the case that only the light in front of BJP candidate used to flash.
Interestingly, the party also appears to be looking for Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi's hand in this. “It has also come to our notice that the machines were programmed in Ahmedabad, which is an area of influence of Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP prime ministeri al candidate Narendra Modi, which means there was a very real possibility of the machines' programming being tampered with,“ said Sharma.
State Congress president Dr Chandrabhan also confirmed that the party has received complained about EVMs and considering the large number of complaints a meeting has been called with legal experts to discuss the matter and the party would submit a memorandum to the election commission on Monday for constituting a team of technical experts to check EVMs.
