Yercaud celebrates CM’s welfare announcements
The people of Yercaud have welcomed the chief minister’s announcement on Friday.
Salem: The people of Yercaud have welcomed the chief minister’s announcement on Friday to lay roads and set up primary health centres (PHCs) in their constituency.
According to S. Jayaraman, president of Salem District Farmers Club Federation, the chief minister had promised to lay the Yercaud-Danish Pettai road, provide a link road between Yercaud and Kondaiyanur, set up primary health centres at three places in Yercaud and set up a cold storage facility for the farmers at Valappadi.
“All these are welcome measures. We are hopeful they will be taken up quickly and completed soon for the benefit of the local people,” he said.
However, Jayaraman said farmers should be allowed to maintain themselves the cold storage facility, rather than let the officials handle the task.
“Officials will not maintain the facility properly but if the farmers are given the responsibility, they will fulfill that with dedication,” he said.
State general secretary of Tamil Nadu Tribal Movement C. Ramasamy said they were happy about the link road project at Kondaiyanur, which was the demand of the people for many years.
“We have lost many lives without proper road facility here, but now the chief minister has announced it. We wish the officials speed up the work and lay the roads immediately,” he pointed out.
