New Delhi: Chinese troops detained three Indian herdsmen from Ladakh for about a week recently after they had apparently strayed across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Chumar sector of south-eastern Ladakh into Chinese-controlled territory, Army sources said on Sunday, adding that they were freed after talks between local Army commanders of the two sides.
Sources said that the incident occurred on December 3 or 4 while the men were freed on December 11.
While some reports claimed that five people were apprehended on territory that India reg-ards as its own, Army sources said that three people were detained by the Chinese, adding that the Indian herdsmen had, in fact, strayed across the LAC into Chinese-controlled territory.
