Christmas spl to run from Nellai to Mumbai
In an effort to clear rush during Christmas, Central railway will run a weekly special train.
Chennai: In an effort to clear rush during Christmas, Central railway will run a weekly special train between Mumbai and Tirunelveli from next week. The train will be leave Chhatrarapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai (01067), on December 21 and Tirunelveli, (01068) on December 22.
The express train will leave Tirunelveli at 1.30 pm on Sundays to reach Mumbai on Tuesday 11.00 pm. Similarly, it will leave Mumbai CST on Saturdays at 12.20 am and reach Tirunelveli on Sunday 11.15 a.m. The weekly train will be operated up to the first week of January 2014.
The super fast train, which leaves Tirunvelveli station on Sundays, will pass through Valliyur, Nagercoil Town, Eraniyel, Kulithurai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Kozhikode, Thalassery, Kannur, Kasargad, Mangaglore, Udipi, Madgaon, Ratnagiri, Thane, Dadar and reach Mumbai CST.
The train will have one first AC, AC two tier and two AC three tier compartments, 12 second class sleeper coaches and six unreserved compartments. Secretary, Kanyakumari district railway users' association, P. Edward Jeni, said the service will be beneficial to people in Madurai, Nagercoil and Tirunelveli. However, he has requested to operate the train as a regular train.
