T-men angered by Bill burning
Widespread protests were held by members of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti.
Karimnagar/Adilabad/Nizamabad: Widespread protests were held by members of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, BJP and the CPI across the Telangana region against tearing up copies of the Telangana Bill by Seemandhra TD and YSRCP MLAs in Assembly.
The Congress also drew flak as its followers and leaders did not stage any agitations condemning the incident. Members of the party had started claiming credit for the formation of Telangana following approval of the draft T-Bill.
However, when it came to staging protests against those who were opposed to Telangana, the Congress seemed to be taking a soft approach. Eada Shankar Reddy, TRS district president, said, “The Congress has never actively taken part in the movement. They often take political mileage from the Telangana cause, but do not stage protests.”
In Adilabad, TRS activists attacked the TD district office by pelting eggs and tomatoes. Police had to resort to a mild lathicharge to disperse the activists. TRS Yuvajana Vibhagam state vice-president Jangail Prashanth suffered minor injuries in the lathicharge.
The activists also burnt the effigies of the YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy and TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu for their opposition to the formation of separate Telangana state. In Nizamabad too, activists staged agitations across and burnt the effigies Seemandhra leaders.
