Sridev makes mark in Dubai

Kerala lad Sridev V., at just 11 years old, held his own at the world youth scrabble championship with 14 wins and a 556 point spread Aditya Iyengar was the best performer from the country, finishing 29th in the final list.

The Indian team com prising Kerala boy Sridev V . gave a decent performance at the world youth scrabble championship held at Etisalat Academy in Dubai.

Sridev, the only member in the team finished 32nd while Aditya Iyengar was the best performer from the country, finishing 29th in the final list.

The Kerala lad was the youngest, at 11 years and he made tremendous improvement from 101st position on day one to finish with an impressive 14 wins and 556 point spread.

He recorded 5 wins out of 7 on the final day in the event that was attended by 135 players from 17 countries. Samrath Singh Bhatia, 36th, Vraj Jain, 49th, Rehet Singh Bhatia, 63rd, Nitya Chagti, 66th and Aum Biyani, 72nd comprised the Indian team.

Moizullah Baig from Pakistan with 19 wins out of 24 games and a spread of 1448 points was crowned the champion in the boys category.
Another Pakistani Javeria Arshad Mirza with 18 wins and 1725 spread and Nuttapong Pholthip from Thailand with 18 wins and 1377 points came second and third respectively.
