High-altitude ground opened

Kerala Cricket Association built the first high-altitude cricket ground in South India.

Kozhikode: The high-altitude cricket stadium built by the Kerala Cricket Association was inaugurated by Kerala Governor Nikhil Kumar in a function held at Krishnagiri in Wayanad on Tuesday .

The stadium is the first high-altitude cricket ground in South India and was constructed at a cost of '6.5 crore on 4.4 hectares of land near the KozhikodeMysore National Highway .

The stadium comes with a 10,000 seating capacity .
Other facilities include players' lounges, dining hall, dormitory, recreation centre and offices for administrative staff.

The construction of the stadium was tailored to include a grass-mound viewing area similar to picturesque grounds abroad. The venue is situated 2,800 metres above the sea level and has picturesque mountains in the backdrop.

Former India all-rounder and member of the BCCI senior selection committee Roger Binny, members of the Kerala cricket team and former players were present at the inauguration ceremony .
