PMK MLA Kaduvetti Guru moves court for protection
Vanniyar Sangam leader and PMK MLA Kaduvetti Guru approaches the HC for protection.
Chennai: Vanniyar Sangam leader and PMK MLA Kaduvetti Guru has approached the Madras HC to direct the authorities to provide adequate police protection to him.
Justice V. Dhanapalan before whom the petition filed by J. Guru came up for hearing, adjourned it to December 19 after government pleader took notice to get instructions.
According to Guru, after his detention under NSA was set aside by the court, he was released from prison on December 4 and he travelled to his Jayamkondam constituency.
On December 5, he was attacked by some miscreants with deadly weapons and his vehicle was also damaged in Cuddalore district and a complaint was registered. Therefore, he was facing serious threat to his life.
Being the leader of a political party, he has to undertake tours. Hence, he sent a representation to the DGP to provide protection, but there was no response, he added.
