Two workers die while cleaning syrup tank at sugar factory in Andhra Pradesh

Two workers died while one undergoing treatment due to suffocation in syrup tank.

Sangareddy: Two workers died and another suffered severe illness while cleaning a tank at a sugar factory near here in Medak district today, police said.

The workers died due to suffocation while cleaning the sugarcane syrup tank of the factory at Laxmapur village in Ramayampet Mandal, they said, adding the third labourer fell ill.

The deceased were identified as Chand Miyan and Arshad while the survivor, Ameerul, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Nizamabad city. All three belonged to Takral village of Uttar Pradesh's Budaun district, they said.

It is being suspected that the incident took place because there was no proper oxygen level in the tank, causing suffocation. Police have registered a case and launched investigation.
