Winter Session: Andhra Pradesh Assembly functioned for only one hour, 50 minutes
25 hours were allotted to carry out business in Assembly, but uproar over T Bill did not allow that.
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly functioned for just one hour and 50 minutes during the five-day winter session that was held from December 12 to 19th.
Although it was decided to have seven sitting, the Assembly functioned for only six days. A total of 25 hours were allocated to carry out the business in the House. However, following uproar over the Telangana Bill, the Assembly could function for a mere one hour and 50 minutes.
This include the time spent on the first day on the condolence motion of former South African President Nelson Mandela and 29 former MLAs who died recently. In rest of the days, the Assembly had witnessed only noisy scenes and no other business could be carried out.
As on today the party position stands as: Congress - 146; TDP - 80; YSRCP - 17; TRS - 17; MIM - 7; CPI - 4; BJP - 3; CPI (M) - 1; Lok Satta -1, Nominated - 1 and Independents - 3. As many as 15 seats are vacant due to the disqualification of Congress and TDP MLAs who died the party whip during the last No Confidence Motion against Kiran Kumar Reddy Government.
