JAC to represent President on Telangana Bill

Anantapur: The 72-hour long bandh call given by Sri Krishnadevaraya University Students JAC was concluded on here Thursday where a large number of students and employees from the varsity blocked NH-204 between Anantapur-Kadiri demanding that the Centre reverse its decision on division of the state.

The traffic was disrupted on the NH where a large number of vehicles stranded due to the agitation by Samaikyandhra activists.

Addressing the gathering, JAC leader K. Sadashiva Reddy accused the Congress-led UPA government of hatching a plan to split the state into pieces for political mileage.

Referring to serious water crisis and severe drought, the JAC leader observed that Anantapur was totally neglected during successive governments since five decades.

“Again the division process would have adverse impact on the backward Anantapur district,” he said.

Protests witnessed at many parts of Kurnool, Kadapa and Anantapur district as part of the ongoing agitation against speedy steps towards  division process.

YSRC activists held Samaikyandhra Sankar-avam programmes at many parts of the region.

Meanwhile, Samaikyandhra JAC is planning to represent President Pranab Mukherji appealing him to reverse the AP Reorganisation Bill-2013  following serious agitation across the Seemandhra region.

President Pranab Mukherji is scheduled to take part in the concluding session of centenary birth anniversary  of former president Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy at Anantapur on December 23.

Primary education minister and Singanamala MLA from Anantapur district Sake Sailajanath, who was also the convener of Seemandhra Representatives Forum, asked the security authorities to provide an opportunity to represent the President to reconsider the state division process. He also appealed to President to consider ongoing agitations in the last four months at all parts of the region including Hyderabad.

Revenue minister N. Raghuveera Reddy, who was the in-charge of the centenary celebrations, had also directed the district authorities to permit Samaikyndhra JAC leaders to represent President.

Sailajanath said, “We avail all opportunities and persuade the President seeking to withdraw the bill.”
