Goons on rampage at ACJM court
One hurt as Nazeer, Aneesh gangs clash.
Kochi: In a serious incident, the gangs of Bhai Nazeer and Maradu Aneesh, the most notorious goons of Kochi city, engaged in a brawl on the verandah of the Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday afternoon, in which a suspected goon was injured and several others were taken into custody. The gangs clashed in front of several policemen. The cops finally had to drag the goons out of the court to bring the situation under control.
The violence occurred when the court was hearing the case in which Maradu Aneesh’s aide Sinoj allegedly attempted to murder Bhai Nazeer by attacking him with a sword . “It is understood that Sinoj attacked Nazeer on the direction of Aneesh. Sinoj was later killed in a police encounter in Tamil Nadu. Aneesh believes it was Nazeer who informed the Tamil Nadu police about Sinoj’s hideout. Hence he harbours feelings of animosity against Nazeer,” a police source said.
The court had summoned one Praveen Paul, a witness in the Bhai Nazeer’s murder attempt case, to give his statement on Friday. Praveen, despite being an aide of Nazeer, was keen on turning hostile and give a statement against Nazeer. Sniffing this move, Nazeer’s gang had arrived at the court to warn him not to turn hostile. But Praveen had also brought goons of Aneesh with him to protect himself from Nazeer’s men.
The clash occurred when Praveen came out of the court after giving a statement against Nazeer. Maradu Aneesh, who is in a Tamil Nadu jail in connection with another case, was also brought to the court on Friday in connection with the trial of the attempt to murder case.
According to police, Aneesh hit Jinas, Nixon and Sharath with his handcuffs. Following this, Nazeer arrived on the scene too to allegedly attack Aneesh. Spotting Nazeer there, Aneesh made a quick move to snatch the revolver of a police officer intending to shoot him. However the cops brought him under control and moved him away to the police jeep.
Ernakulam central police took all the gang members to the station and charged them. Jinan, who suffered cuts on his face in the handcuff attack, was later taken to Ernakulam general hospital.
