Tamil Nadu gets four more DGPs, total nine
Four more Tamil Nadu cadre IPS officials have became directors general of police on Friday.
Chennai: Four more Tamil Nadu cadre IPS officials have became directors general of police on Friday, taking the total number of DGPs from the state to a record nine. This is the first time nine serving officers from the state cadre have reached the highest post in the police department.
The newly-promoted officials are R. Sekar, Ashok Kumar, S.K. Dogra and Dr Mahboob Alam. According to a statement from the home department, Sekar, ADGP, railway police, will be posted as director general of police, vigilance, Tangedco.
Ashok Kumar, now ADGP, intelligence, will be the new DGP, intelligence, while Dogra, heading the DVAC as ADGP, will continue in the same wing as DGP.
Dr Mahaboob Alam, ADGP, who has been heading the Indo-Tibetan Border Police force on deputation, will continue in the same force as DGP. Other serving directors general of police in TN are K. Ramanujam, Archana Ramasundaram, Anoop Jaiswal, Narendrapal Singh and K. Muthukaruppan.
Seema Agarwal, inspector general of police, Tangedco, was transferred and posted as IG railway police on Friday.
