Bomb attack: Bike of suspect found
Two dhotis with blood stains also recovered.
Kochi: The Kochi North police on Sunday recovered the motorcycle which was used by the suspected goons to throw bombs at an apartment near Deshabhimani Junction near here on Saturday.
The bike was found abandoned at Mamangalam near Palarivattom. Police also found a bag on the bike which had two shirts with bloodstains, two dirty white dhotis and a sawdust which is believed to have been used to store the bombs.
Police sources said that the bike was owned by R. Subhash of Thrissur, but they have not confirmed if he was part of a gang or if it was stolen from him.
Two unidentified men on a motorbike had thrown two bombs at an apartment on Kollamparambil Lane. The attack was believed to be a follow-up of the clash between the gangs of Maradu Aneesh and Bhai Nazeer as the latter’s aides were at the apartment during the attack. No one was injured in the bombing, but a car was damaged.
A local resident informed the patrolling police about the abandoned bike with a bag on it. A police team, with a dog squad and forensic experts, from Palarivattom station immediately arrived on the scene and examined the articles. The bike was moved to the Palarivattom police station and the police have registered a separate case towards its recovery.
“We registered a separate case because we are still not sure if it was the bike that was used for the incident near Deshabhimani Junction. If not, it would have merged with the case by the Ernakulam North police over the bombing incident,” said Vijaya Sanker, the sub inspector of Palarivattom police.
Meanwhile, the Kochi city police is expecting the goon wars to continue after Saturday’s events. The police is not making any headway in the case as they are still clueless about the attackers and the possibility of any further threats from them.
