Kochi: The newly appointed special officer for the Co-operative Medical College turned Kochi Government Medical College, Dr Junaid Rehman, on Monday said that a master plan would be made for the comprehensive development of the medical college in the government sector.

“A master plan is the key.  Planned development can make the medical college one of the best in the state. New buildings have to be planned in such a manner as to make related departments and other facilities to be located close by or easily connected,” he said.

Dr Junaid, who is currently the Medical Director of CMC, said that he was yet to get the brief for the new job. He said that the issues related to the temporary and contract staff at the college were important and had to be sorted out.

“The college has enough land and other facilities which can be put to good use. When it becomes a government medical college, the quality of the faculty can be strengthened. Students will have to pay lesser fees, and PG courses are going to be started which will further boost the prospects of the college,” he said.
