This new year, party by the book
This Dec. 31, party organizers will have to follow strict rules while cops will crack down heavily on drunken driving.
With the New Year less than a week away, city cops are taking no chances on the law and order front.
Cyberabad and Hyderabad police have already issued notices to all pubs, lounges, resorts and convention centres to seek permission for New Year parties and will be conducting surprise raids to crack down on drug peddlers in the twin cities.
Special patrolling teams will be deployed, especially near residential areas and authorities have warned that drunken misbehavior will not be tolerated.
Additional commissioner, law and order, Anjani Kumar said that one should dial 100 in case of any emergencies and that the police would keep a close watch to ensure that people followed rules and did not create any troubles for others.
The Hyderabad traffic police too will be deploying additional personnel to check road mishap on New Year’s Eve. Drunk driving and speeding will be dealt with firmly.
Additional commissioner of police, traffic, Amit Garg, says, “Party goers are advised not to resort to drunken driving because it may pose serious threat to the life of individuals in the vehicle and on the road. Massive vehicle checking will be carried out on the Outer Ring Road, other highways and twin city roads for drunken driving and speeding. Event organisers at public places should advise the participants accordingly.”
Cyberabad commissioner C.V. Anand, says, “Police is not against celebrations and does not want to interfere with the festivities, but we would request all concerned to follow certain guidelines during celebrations. Parties held on the city’s outskirts (farmhouses and resorts) should also follow the orders.”
Police diktats for New Years
- Organisers of various events at public places should get police permission for using loud speakers. DJs are not permitted in open spaces or residential areas.
- Nude dances/ acts/films, obscene gestures are strictly prohibited and no professional dances should be organised. Managements should engage sufficient private security personnel for security and traffic management to regulate traffic inside and outside the venues. No visitors’ vehicles should be allowed inside without thorough checking.
- Liquor shall not be served without a valid licence/permission by the Excise department.
Traffic curbs
- Organisers should ensure parking of all vehicles inside the venues. They should not allow parking on the roads used by the general public, failing which heavy penalties will be levied.
- Restrictions will be imposed on city roads like Necklace Road, Tank Bund, Hitec City, highways and the Outer Ring Road on December 31 to prevent accidents; main flyovers might also be closed.
- Additional check posts will be installed at various spots in the city to curb drunk driving and speeding vehicles.
