On Christmas, Hyderabad prays for peace, love

Every church across the city was decked with bells, colourful vibrant lights, Christmas trees, stars and other embellishments.
On Tuesday people rushed to finish some last minute shopping and decorating their homes and Christmas trees. Carol singing was in full swing at various churches and neighbourhoods.
But beyond all the glitter of Christmas celebrations, was the message of peace, love and goodwill preached at most of the churches. Priests and pastors urged the faithful to live the life of Jesus, love and help one another and remember his teachings of kindness.
The festivities kicked off on a grand note at St Mary’s Secunderabad, Holy Trinity, Begumpet, Holy Family, Trimul-gherry, Gunfoundry, Abids, St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Basheer-bagh, Rock Church, Masab Tank, St. Alphonsus Church, John the Baptist Church and other churches in the twin cities.
President Pranab Mukherjee, meanwhile, extended Christmas greetings and wishes to all fellow countrymen. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy also wished the people of the state a Merry Christmas: “May this Christmas be filled with joy and happiness and may the glow of prosperity, joy and happiness illuminate your life.”
APCC president Botsa Satyanarayana added, “It is an extremely joyous occasion not only for Christians, but for the people of all faiths. May Christmas this year usher in peace happiness for all.”
