On Christmas eve, Cardinal's heart beats for survivors

Four come back to hospital in a rare reunion.

Kochi: In true Christmas spirit, Cardinal Mar George Alencherry has chosen to spend this festival season making a difference to the lives of people who have survived major health problems and  in bringing cheer to orphans.   Tuesday saw him visiting the Lisie Hospital and meeting five individuals who have undergone heart transplantations and are back to living a normal life today.

The patients, Girish of Palakkad, Sruthy of Mulanthuruthy, Denoy of Kalamassery and Suvin of Pathanamthitta , who are grateful for having received a second chance at life, spent the day cutting a cake in celebration and sharing it with the cardinal. Telling them to make good use of the new life they had been given, he advised them to use it to serve others.

The patients were joined by their  families,  Lisie Hospital director, Fr Thomas Vaikathuparambil, Dr Jose Chacko Periapuram, Dr Rony Mathew, Dr Jacob Abraham and Dr Babu Francis who all wished them the best Christmas of their lives.The Cardinal also visited the intensive care  and  dialysis units of the hospital to greet the patients.
