Chennai: Thirty children from Tamil Nadu made it to the national child science congress 2013 to be held in Bhopal. Students from various government and private schools, armed with their science projects, boarded the Pondicherry-New Delhi express at Egmore station. "We are leaving for Bhopal," bubbling with energy, the children expressed their joy in one voice.

Speaking to DC about the child science congress, S. Mohana, organiser of the Tamil Nadu Science Forum, said, "All the children will exhibit their research work in the national congress.
These 30 kids were selected as finalists from more than 2,000-odd research papers by child scientists.

After the selection, they underwent one week training to make their presentation on the final day. All these kids are thrilled about their participation." Mohana added that this group of child scientists would exchange their ideas and share their knowledge during the one-and-a-half-day journey to Bhopal.

The participants have designed projects on 'energy' which is the topic for the current year science congress. Some of the projects by these child scientists ranges from alternative fuel for diesel engine, waste from rice mill used for energy, geothermal energy to study loss of human energy because of child marriages.

At the end of the three-day science congress, from December 27-31, 2013, research paper submitted by these children would be published in a journal. And the winner of the national congress would receive the award from President Pranab Mukherjee.
