Kudumbashree to guard Kochi flats
Kudumbashree mission now plans to extensively offer “Flat management” services to flats.
Kochi: Kudumbashree mission now plans to extensively offer “Flat management” services to flats and high-rise apartments across the city after the success of its pilot project involving Asset Homes.
“We offer a comprehensive package that includes security, caretaking, house-keeping, plumbers, and electricians among others. We decided to expand the services in Kochi after Asset Homes expressed satisfaction with our service. We have already signed agreements with three more clients for maintenance of multi-storeyed apartments,” said Kudumbashree Mission District Co-ordinator Tanny Thomas.
The project is expected to give employment opportunities to 200 women in the next three months with each of them bagging upto '15, 000 monthly wages.
“We’re the first one to offer a comprehensive package of services, not limited to provision of security guards or house-keeping but all the services required in a multi-storeyed flat from cleaning to waste management,” Thomas said.
The women security personnel would work round the clock but in the night shift, two women will be deployed together with facilities like alarm, emergency phone and lights.
Meanwhile, the railways have expressed willingness to extend their contract with the Kudumbashree, the women oriented, community-based state Poverty Eradication programme, for cleaning of express trains like the Mangala-Lakshadweep Express at the Ernakulam south railway station. “They’ve promised to allot us more trains so that more women could get employment opportunities,” she said.
