Agartala: The police has made no headway into the case of a 17-year old Nigerian footballer Auro Azendu Joel, who was found dead in a juvenile home in Tripura three days ago, till now.

Police said the footballer had entered the state with a fake passport and was arrested by immigration personnel in September when he was trying to go to Bangladesh with the same passport.

Joel came to India in 2010 to play football for some south Indian clubs, but remained in the country even after his visa expired and entered Tripura by faking his passport.

Following a court order he was staying in a juvenile home since September 14. He fell sick on Thursday and was taken to Agartala Government Medical College where the doctors declared him brought dead.
