Photographer in South Africa seeks justice
Narender Kumar, covering the ongoing India-SA series in South Africa, is trying to recover his stolen equipment worth 15 lakhs.
Hyderabad: Narender Kumar, a photographer covering the ongoing India-South Africa Test series in South Africa, is at his wits’ end, trying to recover his stolen equipment with '15 lakh.
Narender, who is on assignment for a cricket magazine, had travelled from Johannesburg to Durban on an Intercape bus on December 6. Despite Narender’s insistence, the bus driver and his helper forced him to place his equipment in the boot.
Narender discovered upon his arrival that his equipment was missing. He suspects the hand of the driver and his helper, as he claims they were the only ones to know how much his equipment cost.
Narender has since lodged an FIR with the Durban police, made numerous requests to the manager of the Indian team, Cricket South Africa CEO Haroon Lorgat, several BCCI officials and even appealed to the President of India, the Prime Minister, External Affairs Minister and other relevant government officials.
But so far, all his efforts have failed to bear any fruit and with Just a day to go before his tour ends, Narender has appealed to newly-elected Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to intervene on his behalf.
