BJP seeks President rule in Andhra Pradesh

Karimnagar: Former Union minister and BJP senior leader Ch. Vidyasagar Rao asked the Centre to impose President’s rule in Andhra Pradesh, if debate over Telangana Bill was not held in Assembly by January 3.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, Vidyasagar Rao lashed out at Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy for his alleged remarks against the T-Bill and opined that imposition of President’s rule was the only option in the given political scenario when debate over the Bill is not possible by January 3.

“Kiran Kumar Reddy should be sent out from the Assembly for his remarks against T Bill,” said the former BJP MP for Karimnagar.

He demanded that the Bill should be debated and approved in the legislature located in the heart of the Telangana. Rao slammed Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar for going for voting on the T Bill though it was not mandatory as per the Constitution.

Stating that Article 3 of the Constitution protects the Telangana people, he maintained that Opposition’s demand to table the Bill in Assembly was the first of its kind in the history of Indian politics.

Commenting on the risks involving Article 371-D, he stated that the provision be removed or amended or defined.

Vidyasagar Rao alleged that TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu had never raised the Telangana issue in the Assembly.

He pointed out that Kiran Kumar Reddy, Naidu and then chief minister K. Rosaiah did not oppose Telangana state when an all-party meeting was convened before the announcement on start of T process by then Union home minister P. Chidambaram on December 9, 2009.
