Thrissur: After presentations of varied styles, it’s now time to share artistic spaces together.
Teatr Biuro Podrozy, an alternative theatre company from Poland which has participated twice at the International Theatre festival of Kerala (ITFOK), is collaborating with organizers Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi (KSNA) on a theatre performance.
The play, 'Burning Flowers - 7 Dreams of A Woman’, will be presented on the final day of the upcoming ITFOK 2014 in Thrissur.
According to KSNA officials, Indian researchers, dramatists and performers will be part of the project, a first for ITFOK. Polish Institute, New Delhi and Adam Mickiewicz-Institute Poznan, Poland are the other agencies working together on the joint venture.
“We will start with a documentary survey and convert the collected material into a powerful, expressive and evocative outdoor performance with an Indian cast,” said project coordinator Manu Jose, adding that the project will focus on violence against women in India and elsewhere.
The drama, to be staged using the entire landscape of Thrissur city, is being developed by the cast of the polish Theatre group.
The cast will include 30 Indian actors, 20 of them being female artistes.
Auditions for this project begins at KSNA campus at a three-day workshop to be held from January 5 to 7.
The production will be designed at a month-long camp thereafter.
