Ongole: Former chief minister and Telugu Desam supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu has promised to waive the crop loans borrowed by the farmers if his party is voted to power in the state.

Naidu also said he is keen on extending support to release the gold pledged to borrow loans for agriculture, to make women happy.

Taking part as chief guest in a programme organised at Ongole Dairy to distribute bonus to the milk producers, dairy staff and agents here on Monday, he stressed the need to develop dairy on par with agriculture.

Referring to the absence of minimum support price for agriculture produce, Naidu said the situation has been forcing the farmers and women to switch over to dairy and aqua sectors.

He recalled his initiative to empower women by forming self help groups during the TD rule and claimed that it is the first of its kind programme in the world. He has also reminded that TD was instrumental in earmarking 33 per cent reservation for women in jobs and politics.

He said that the reservation saw women working in police force, adding that he is keen on seeing them as drivers in RTC.

Claiming credit for allotting 36 lakh gas connections to women under Deepam scheme during TD regime, Naidu alleged that the Congress government was diluting the scheme.

He promised 10 gas cylinders per annum for each gas connection irrespective of Aadhaar link if the TD is back on the saddle.

The TD supremo has also assured to eliminate belt shops in the state.

He attributed the large scale corruption in every sector of the country to AICC chief Sonia Gandhi. Indirectly referring to YSR Congress, he said that another corrupt party has born in the state.

Addressing a well attended public meeting later at Ongole, he called upon the people to emulate Anna Hazare and become soldiers to fight against corruption.

Expressing confidence in his return to power in 2014 elections, Naidu said he will render justice to all sections of the people.

The TD chief said he will also put his efforts for linking all the rivers in the country.

TD farmers wing state president Karanam Balarama Krishna Moorthy, TD district unit president Damacharla Janardhan, Dairy chairman Challa Srinivasa Rao and Markapuram legislator Kandula Narayana Reddy were present with Naidu among others.
