Fired by passion
Meet one of the youngest winners from the Aam Aadmi Party
His youth belies his wisdom. But when you talk to Vishesh Ravi (30), one of the youngest winners from the Aam Aadmi Party, you can sense the determination.
The MLA from Karol Bagh constituency has already started working towards his goal of bringing about a change. And he relies a lot on social media for the purpose.
“After the win, I got so many ‘friend requests’. I am planning to accept all of them, as social media is one of the best ways to reach out to the people. This will make me available to the people 24x7,” says Vishesh, who has been involved in social work since the past eight years besides taking care of his father’s hardware business.
“The impetus to become a part of the AAP came from my association with Delhi Vikas Sanstha, a social organisation that my father, K.C. Ravi, started. Originally, my father was offered this AAP seat but he declined since he did not want to be a part of any party. However, I took it up. I never actively planned to get into politics, but I wanted to serve people on a larger scale,” explains Vishesh, who can be seen doing the rounds of his constituency addressing issues on sanitation and water. “I leave my number with the people and have told them to call me any time of the day if they face any difficulties,” he adds.
The zeal to work hard comes from the fact that Vishesh belongs to the young brigade. “Age is a plus-point in case of many of AAP members. I feel we can do better than older leaders because we can run around more and have the patience to listen to the people. Plus, youth believes in quick action. Experienced leaders waste a lot of time in solving issues as they calculate the political repercussions of the same. Whereas, we believe in completing the job at hand.”
