Thiruvananthapuram: Defence Minister A. K. Antony has said that the people would have faced few problems in their life these days if they had practised Sree Narayana Guru’s teachings. He was inaugurating the Sivagiri pilgrimage and Daivadashaka Rachana’s centenary celebrations on Tuesday.

“Occasions like the Sivagiri pilgrimage are times for self-introspection. We must ask ourselves whether we have done even one percent justice to the Guru’s teachings. His teachings are essential for world peace and development,” he said.

SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan criticised Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for not declaring a holiday for Sivagiri pilgrimage.

Schools and colleges coming under SN Trust were given a holiday on Tuesday.

Vellappally attacked the Chief Minister in the presence of Antony. He directed the devotees of Sree Narayana Guru to protest against the negligence.
