Vellore: Union minister of state in the Prime Minister’s Office Narayanasamy who has been telling the media that Tamil Nadu would get 1,000 MW power from the Kudankulam power station, had not done so yet, said AISMK leader and Tenkasi constituency MLA R. Sarath Kumar, who was here on Thursday to inaugurate VIT University 90.8 FM Community Radio and a multimedia and animation studio at the university complex.

When asked about the AISMK party’s support to the ruling AIADMK party in the Parliamentary elections, he said that they would continue to do so. He added that his party had not taken any decision in asking for seats to contest in the coming Lok Sabha elections and it was left to the decision of AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa.

When the need arose, his party would approach the leader at an appropriate time. As for the victory of the Aam Aadmi party in the New Delhi Assembly elections and forming its government, Sarath Kumar said that its impact on the state remained to be seen. “I personally feel that it may not have any impact at all in Tamil Nadu,” he added.

Regarding  the fishermen’s issue with the Sri Lankan government, Sarath Kumar  did not foresee any amicable solution. The Tamil Nadu fishermen’s issue was not being viewed as a ‘national issue’. The politicians in the north always dubbed it a Tamil issue.

The DMDK leader Vijayakanth should take a proper stand if he wanted to oppose any government, he should do it within the alliance party, Sarath Kumar said.
