Hyderabad police arrest two persons over gang rape of a Mumbai-based model in city.
Hyderabad: The city police on Saturday arrested two persons in connection with the alleged gang rape of a Mumbai-based model-cum-dancer here on the eve of the new year.
Police recorded the statement of the victim, who was brought here from Mumbai on Friday, and arrested Venkata Raju and Happy alias Nitin Yadav, city police commissioner Anurag Sharma said at a press conference.
Raju was nabbed in Hyderabad while Happy was arrested in Mumbai. Two other accused were still at large, Sharma said.
The incident took place on the intervening night of December 31, 2013 and January 1, 2014. The victim had first registered a case with Mumbai police.
The victim, who had been offered Rs 1 lakh by Happy to perform at an event, was given a soft drink spiked with a sedative by the accused after she arrived here from Mumbai. She was taken to a house in Nizampet area and gang raped.
They also stole her ATM card and withdrew Rs 57,000. Later they put her in a bus to Mumbai while she was still under the influence of the sedative.
