UAE to open Consulate in Kerala capital soon

UAE Ambassador in India makes the announcement while attending a function in Kerala.

Thiruvananthapuram: UAE would open a consulate here soon, UAE Ambassador in India Mohammed Sultan Abdalla Al Owais said on Saturday.

Owais made this announcement while attending a function with theme 'UAE-Kerala partners in growth'. The Consulate would start function soon, he said.

Union Minister of state for Human Resources Shashi Tharoor said establishment of a consulate affirms special relationship between Kerala and UAE. It also cements growing international stature of Thiruvananthapuranm, he added.

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy lauded the role played by UAE government in the development activities in Kerala and said consulate would benefit both the job seekers and tourists who wanted to visit UAE.

State Minister for Non-Resident Keralities Affairs K C Joseph was among those present on the occasion.
