Grand opening awaits International Theatre Festival of Kerala on January 27
Work of artists from 11 countries.
Thrissur: The Sixth International Theatre Festival of Kerala (ITFoK) will kick off to a start in Thrissur on January 27
Over 20 different productions are scheduled, showcasing the work of international theatre artists from 11 different countries. Further, it will feature a colloquium with theatre scholars and critics of international repute.
Other highlights this year include 'director in conversation', music and poetry crossover, traditional theatre and a special collaborative theatre production. Another unique attraction this year will be the Janakaraliya Tent from Sri lanka, which will be the fourth venue for the event.
The productions have been selected by a curatorial committee, comprising Deepan Sivaraman, Sajitha Madathil, Abhilash Pillai, Neelam Mansingh and D. Reguthaman. The concept of transition will be the central theme of the event while it will also have a separate section of productions focusing on gender issues.
The major productions to be staged are He / She is Nancy Joe (Czech Republic), Awkward Happiness (Poland), Mephisto Waltz and Open Air Action (Germany) Two Liter by Two Liter Peace (Iran), The Neighbour’s Grief is Greener (Israel), Transfiguration (France), Revolutionary Messengers (Norway), The Caucasian Chalk Circle (Sri Lanka), Epic (Slovakia), Hylum (France), among others featuring in the foreign section.
