Actress Namitha, recently celebrated Pongal, with all its traditions intact, with the students of SMK Fomra Institute of Technology in Chennai. She played the well-known traditional Pongal game, Uri adi, with the enthusiastic students and tasted the pongal that they had made. The star seemed to enjoy the experience with her fans.

She also watched all the shows that the students and professional dancers performed for more than five hours. She inspired the students with her speech, asking them to be socially responsible citizens and not focus merely on getting a job alone.

Namitha says she was pleased to find that when she asked the students how many had pledged their organs and donated blood, more than 200 students raised their hands.  “Youngsters are becoming more responsible and moving in the right direction. I am very happy about the fact that most of you here have pledged your organs. Anyone who has done this noble act can come to see me anytime and have a photograph taken with me. All you need is the  certificate stating you’ve donated your organs,” she announced. She impressed most of the professors at the college with her sensible speech too.

After her Tamil flick, Machan, she will be shooting for her next, in which she plays a cop. Sources say that she is working on her fitness and physique in preparation for the role.
