With many renowned artists releasing albums this year, 2014 is likely to be a year of musical extravaganza. So, here is our pick of five songs from the American Top 40 chart this week, which gives an indication of how the year is going to be.
One Republic’s album Native reached the top 10 of the Billboard Top 200 this year. The third single from the album, Counting Stars, has continued its success story by remaining in the chart for 15 weeks. The song is in ninth position.
Travie McCoy is regarded as one of the best solo rap-rock vocalists of today. His single, Rough Waters, from his yet to be released album of the same name features at number 15 this week. The song saw Travie experimenting with rap-rock and pop-rock with Jason Mraz.
Pop punk sensation, Fall Out Boy, has been a favourite with young adults since its inception in 2001. Save Rock and Roll, their fifth studio album, proved the fact that they still continue to be a sensation after a two year hiatus. Alone Together, the third single from the album, features at number 16 this week.
Be it Santana or Josey Scott or Chris Daughtry or Timberland or the recently Avril Lavigne, Chad Kroeger's collaborations produced songs that would be remembered for a long time. Let Me Go by Avril, which is at number 21 this week, features Chad in a pop rock style of vocals.
American Authors burst into the indie rock scene with their second single, Best Day of My Life in 2013. The song was featured as a soundtrack of the 2013 movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. It debuts at number 37 in the chart this week.
