Hyderabad: Dundigal police on Monday arrested a 28-year-old man, who allegedly killed his wife after she refused to have sexual intercourse with him. Subramanya Kumar, supervisor in a quarry, strangled his wife and strung up her body in his flat at Kolan Ramchandra Reddy Nagar, Bachupally.

He broke the windows and door to make it look like a robbery had taken place. The police had at first booked a case of suspicious death, but as the investigation progressed, this was changed to a murder charge.

The murder occurred on December 24 evening. P. Pavani, 22, had a quarrel with her husband that evening. “Kumar came home in the evening and started a fight with her about their sexual life.

His wife fell unconscious when he slapped her, after which he took her sari and hanged her from the ceiling. He later broke the window and door, and hid her gold ornaments to create a robbery scene. He told us that robbers had struck his house,” said Dundigal police inspector, Ch Balakrihsna.

The inspector said a medical examination of the victim showed no external injuries. What aroused the police’s suspicions, he said, was that the gold ornaments were found hidden in the house. Subramanya Kumar then confessed that he had committed the murder.

Pavani and Subramanya Kumar were married 10 months ago in Pala Koderu in West Godavari district. They came to Hyderabad a few months ago. Subramanya Kumar confessed  that he was frustrated with his married life as his wife was reluctant to have children. He was sent to judicial custody on Monday.
