AAP to hit Congress fortunes, says survey

New Delhi: After its stunning victory in the Delhi assembly polls, Arvind Kejriwal’s political outfit Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is all set to destroy the Congress (INC) and marginally affect other parties in the forth coming 2014 Lok Sabha polls, according to a snap poll conducted by ABP News-Nielsen in Delhi and Mumbai.
The survey also claims that Modi is the most preferred choice for the post of the Prime Minister with 48 percent of those polled favouring the Gujarat strongman. Rahul Gandhi comes a poor third with only 16 percent supporting him. Kejriwal seems to have won the backing of 31 percent of those polled.
Congress also is predicted to lose heavily in both Delhi and Mumbai. In Mumbai and Thane, INC and NCP-out of the 10 seats-are likely to bag only 3 seats as compared to 8 they won in 2009. BJP and Shiv Sena are predicted to secure 6 seats. They had got only one in 2009.
Congress, the snap poll says would get routed in Delhi by winning only 1 seat as compared to 2009 when they won all the 7 seats. AAP is set to get 6 seats.
BJP is the favourite in 2 seats of Haryana- Gurgaon and Faridabad. AAP is believed to have an edge in Ghaziabad. It also is predicted to eat into the vote share of the BSP.
BJP is expected to get Gautam Budha nagar, according to the snap poll.
The poll further says that Congress is likely to secure lose both Haryana and Delhi with only around 12 percent of its votes as compared to 2009 when it garnered 38 percent of the votes.
The Field work for the Snap poll was done in the 21 Parliamentary constituencies in Delhi, NCR and Mumbai region between the 10th-12th January, 2014 with 2585 respondents.
