Kozhikode: K. Santha,  Koyilandy municipal chairperson,  on Monday  decided to withdraw her resignation that she had submitted to the  CPM district leadership protesting against the suspension of her husband N.V. Balakrishnan for one year from the party.

The decision was taken at  a meeting of rebel leaders held at Koyilandy as the CPM district committee has decided to inquire into the allegations raised  against K.K. Muhammed,  present CPM area committee secretary of Koyilandy.

The district leadership has promised to take action against him if the allegations against him are  found to be true. The CPM also declared a three-member committee with A. Pradeepkumar MLA, P. Sathidevi and C. Bhaskaran, district committee member,  as members.

Santha told reporters that though she opposed   the action against her husband, she stood by  the party decision. “The action against Balakrishnan caused me mental agony,”  she said and added that she had withdrawn her resignation as the party had decided to address her grievances.

It may  be recalled that the CPM Koyilandy area committee had suspended Balakrishnan from the primary membership of the party for one year triggering  protests in the region.
