Traffic diversions for Mylapore float festival

On account of the Thai Poosam float festival of Mylapore Kapaleeswarar temple.

Chennai: On account of the Thai Poosam float festival of Mylapore Kapaleeswarar temple, which is being celebrated from January 15 to January 17 between 7 pm and 10 pm, the Chennai traffic police have announced traffic diversions around the temple and R.K. Mutt road, which would be implemented according to the crowd size.

According to an official release, vehicles from Luz junction and St Mary’s road towards R.K. Mutt road; Kutchery road-Mathalanarayanan street; Dr Ranga road–Venkatesa Agraharam road; East Chitrakulam street-N.Ch­itr­a­kulam street; and Manda­v­eli street W. Chitr­ak­ulam street, will not be allowed towards the temple during the festival.

All vehicles, including MTC buses from Roya­pe­t­tah high road and Kutc­h­ery road towards Man­da­v­eli and R.K. Mutt road, will be diverted via Luz Church road, D’Silva road, Warren road and St. Mary’s road to reach their destination.

Also, vehicles from Adyar towards Roya­p­ettah will be diverted in the exact opposite route mentioned above and lead to Vivekananda College, P.S. Sivasawamy Salai and Royapettah high road to reach their destination, the release added. In the even­i­ng, Mylapore ta­nk terminus will be operated from Luz church road nea­r Amrutanjan Comp­a­ny, the release said.
