Mithali to lead India, Purnima named coach

Hyderabad: Star Hyderabad woman cricketer Mithali Raj has been named captain of the Indian team for the forthcoming one-day international series against the visiting Sri Lankan side. Harmanpreet Kaur will serve as Mithali’s deputy in both formats.

Former India cricketer from AP, Purnima Rau, has been appointed as the coach.

Meanwhile, Veda Krishnamurthy will lead the India ‘A’ side in a warm-up game against the visitors at the ACA ground in Vizianagaram on January 17.

The three-match ODI series will be played from January 19 to 23 at the ACA-VDCA Dr Y.S.
