What led to Sunanda Pushkar's death: Some theories
Various theories surfaced over death of Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor.
New Delhi: Even as news of the death of Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor spread late Friday night, various theories surfaced. There are three angles:
1. Sunanda happened to read some intimate tweets between her husband Shashi Tharoor and Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar while on a flight from Thiruvananthapuram to New Delhi. She was deeply hurt, stormed out of the house, demanded a divorce and, in a rash moment, committed suicide.
2. Sunanda reportedly was suffering from a major ailment and was depressed due to this. While she was in Thiruvananthapuram, she had undergone a slew of tests at a local hospital. She just was not confident of handling the ailment and in a depressed state of mind, committed suicide. The extra-marital affair acted as a trigger that led to a breaking point.
3. Sunanda had a bout of depression and was on medication. The extra marital affair and the glaring media attention was too much to handle in such a state of mind and she committed suicide. In her last tweet, Sunanda had mentioned about her health issues to a well-wisher and had said "who knows when I shall go. If I go, I shall with joy." This was sent at 5 am on Friday.
