No goon face-off please : Cops
Letters sent to TN and magistrate to avoid conflicts.
Kochi: Kochi city police has requested the Tamil Nadu police and Ernakulam judicial magistrate to avoid notorious goons, Maradu Aneesh and Bhai Nazeer meet each other in court on the same day.
The city police sent letters to their Tamil Nadu counterparts and the district magistrate to not bring the two to the same place at the same time. The move is an attempt to avoid another murder.
Aneesh is in Tamil Nadu jail now in connection with a spirit smuggling case there and Nazeer in Kakkanad jail after being arrested under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (KAPA).
According to the police, Maradu Aneesh has been planning to kill Nazeer in revenge of the murder of the former’s aide named Sinoj alias Joseph. “Sinoj was killed in an encounter with the Tamil Nadu police a couple of years ago.
Aneesh strongly believes that it was Nazeer who tipped off the Tamil cops about Sinoj’s locations. Aneesh and Nazeer had long borne each other rivalry owing to the clashes between their gangs,” said Suneesh Babu, ACP, Ernakulam.
Imthiaz Khan, a cousin and close associate of Nazeer's, was also allegedly killed by Aneesh and his gang at the end of 2012 in retaliation to Sinoj’s murder. Later, members of the two gangs had clashed in the corridor of the Ernakulam judicial magistrate too when Praveen Paul, Nazeer's main aide, arrived at the court with the other goons to give a statement against the rival gang.
