Acharya launches android calendar app

Chennai: In a novel initiative ai­m­ed at benefiting the Tam­il-speaking people all ov­er the world, Kanchi San­k­aracharya Sri Jaye­ndra Saraswathi lau­n­c­h­ed a unique and­roid ap­p­lication - Sanatan Ta­m­il calendar 2014 - that provides exhaustive info­r­mation on the Hindu al­m­anac in Tamil language.

The android application has been specially developed by Sanatan Sanstha, a non-profit organisation registered in India and engaged in spreading spi­r­ituality all over the wo­rld.

The application, said to be first-of-its-kind in the world in Tamil, gives com­­prehensive info­rm­at­ion on tithi, nakshatra, Hi­ndu festiv­als, shubha muhu­rt­ham, information on Hin­du deities, Hindu temples, bes­ides enlightening info­r­mation on Hindu Dha­rma, information on sai­nts, revolutionaries and Hindu leaders.

Over 2,000 students besides several others participated in the function held at Sankara Vidyalaya, Tambaram.
