Bangalore: Releasing a hand-written statement listing out allegations against information and infrastructure minister R. Roshan Baig and energy minister D.K. Shivakumar, activist S.R. Hiremath on Saturday demanded a probe by a Supreme Court judge against both the ministers.

Hiremath’s statement came two days after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah challenged him to make public evidence against these two ministers. Though Hiremath did not release any documents to the media, he made two allegations against Baig.

“Both Baig and his family had connections with the kingpin of fake stamp paper racket Abdul Karim Telgi. Baig has two cases pending against him, one in the Supreme Court and the other in Lokayukta court. In one case, the high court cleared the abuse of power allegedly committed by Baig and the hearing of the case is fixed for January 31,” he added.

According to Hiremath, Baig secured an acre of land from BDA for charitable purpose but the plot was rented out to a well known IT company and a real estate firm. He reiterated his demand for the resignation of Shivakumar for his alleged involvement in illegal mining.

Meanwhile, former Lokayukta Justine N. Santosh Hegde and Jnanpeeth award winner Prof U.R. Ananthamurthy have expressed their displeasure over the induction of both these ministers into the
cabinet.
