Chennai: St. Michael's had every reason to feel indignant at themselves when they thought they very nearly attained the result they were so badly craving for until they stood witness to an absolute peach of a goal against the run of play by Yohan Thomas Benns of Don Bosco with barely a few minutes remaining that forced them to settle for a 1-1 draw in the Chola MS U-14 Schools Premier League football tournament at St. Michael's Academy on Saturday.

Meanwhile the match that followed it defied all the pre-match predictions of it being too close an affair to put one's money on as Lady Andal notched up an all too easy 3-0 win against Chettinad Vidyashram who on the evidence of their anaemic performance will have to be satisfied with jostling for a place in the lower rungs of the table.

It wasn't just the outcome which should hearten Lady Andal as this being their first match in the tournament they didn't exhibit any nerves and more significantly they betrayed no signs of rustiness as they went about their job with clinical efficiency and poise.

One player who indubitably walked away with all the plaudits and who even drew applause from the rival camp was forward Dheeraj who was a constant thorn in their opponents flesh. He was oozing all class and oomph which was a bit too much for the harried Chettinad to contend with. Both the goals he scored had a touch of elegance to them and one couldn't get enough of him having the ball at his feet.

Results

Note: The next round of fixtures are slated to be held at the same venue.
