Nikhat in semis, ensures medal

Hyderabad: Nikhat Banu ensured a medal by advancing to the semifinals in the youth girls category at the  75th Junior and Youth National Table Tennis championships here at Deshbakt Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium in Guwahati, Assam, on Sunday.

In the quarterfinals on Sunday, Nikhat beat West Bengal’s Anushree Hazra 11-7, 11-6, 13-11, 11-8 (4-0). She will next meet Krittwika Sinha Roy of Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Earlier, Nikhat had captained AP to bronze medal in the team championships at the event.

In the juniors category, Hyderabad’s Akula Sreeja will face Sagarika Mukharjee of North Bengal in their quarterfinal clash on Monday.
