New Delhi: After achieving a compromise with the government Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal called of protest near Rail Bhavan, on Tuesday.

Ending the two-day long protest, Kejriwal said, "A number of police officials have been sent on leave. It is a victory of people."

Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and Congress had appealed to Kejriwal to withdraw protest in view of the Republic Day celebrations. The LG issued orders to expedite the judicial inquiry against police officials involved in the South Delhi episode.

Clashes erupted between supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and police near Rail Bhavan today, leaving more than a dozen people including two policemen injured.

A group of jostling people wearing AAP caps jumped barricades, set up around at all the arterial roads leading to the venue where Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal sat on dharna for the second day, and clashes broke out when police started pushing them back.

There was heavy deployment of police at the high-security zone in central Delhi that houses Parliament, Prime Minister's Office, various ministries and Rashtrapati Bhavan. In the morning the number of people at the protest site dwindled following heavy downpour but as the day progressed the crowd swelled.

However, police prevented them from coming near Rail Bhavan where Kejriwal has been protesting along with his ministers demanding suspension of 3 SHOs and one ACP. All through the day, AAP supporters kept raising anti-police and anti-Shinde slogans.

The police barricaded the area from four sides. At around 3.30 pm, some 200-300 AAP volunteers broke the barricades near the Constitution Club to reach to the place where Chief Minister was holding his protest.

In response, the cops baton-charged the AAP volunteers in which around 10 AAP workers were injured, while two policemen were injured in the incident of stone-pelting. Police officers said they were operating under difficult conditions and trying to maintain law and order in the area. Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh lashed out at the Delhi Police accusing them of brutally beating up a number of party workers.

"Police brutality is evident. Journalists were beaten up. A lot of our volunteers were beaten up. "We are trying to maintain law and order and a lot of volunteers were injured and they are being taken to hospital," Singh, who is a member of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC), told reporters here. He said the party was trying to ensure proper medical attention to all those injured.

BJP activists demand resignation of Bharti

New Delhi: A group of BJP youth activists led by Delhi party president Vijay Goel today staged a protest here demanding resignation of Law Minister Somnath Bharti for allegedly misbehaving with women in south Delhi last week.

The protesters began their march from Delhi BJP office towards Kejriwal's protest site at Rail Bhavan but were stopped by police and ITBP personnel at Parliament Street.

Demonstrators raising anti-AAP and anti-Kejriwal slogans demanded resignation of Bharti and tried to break barricades and jostled with security personnel.

The protesters along with Goel were detained and taken to Parliament Street Police Station in two buses. They were later released.

Bharti had created a controversy last week when he went to a locality in his constituency of Malviya Nagar, claiming a drug and prostitution ring was being run from a residence and demanded police raid the place.

However, the police had refused saying they have no warrant to do so. The AAP workers allegedly forced a couple of women from Uganda to give urine samples. Their action came under all-round attack but the AAP government insists that action should be taken against the police officials.

The BJP is also demanding Bharti's resignation on the ground that he has been indicted by a court for tampering of evidence.BJP activists demand resignation of Bharti
